MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo acrobatics and tumbling team captured its first Conference Carolinas victory in program history, as the Falcons defeated Mars Hill 251.990-238.480 on Saturday evening.
The Falcons opened the meet outscoring the Lions 35.00-34.10 in the Compulsory Event. Montevallo's best scores came in the Pyramid Heat (9.80) and Toss Heat (9.75).
The Falcons opened the Acro Event strong, as Lexie Cole, Rilyn McAllister, and Alesandra Vega secured the first perfect score of the season, with a 10.00 in the Five-Element. Montevallo also earned scores of 8.85 and 8.15 to finish the Acro Event with a 27.00. Mars Hill totaled a 27.55.
Montevallo opened the Pyramid Event strong with a 9.75 in the Inversion Pyramid. The Falcons also saw scores of 9.20 and 8.90, as Montevallo outscored Mars Hill 27.85-26.00 in the Pyramid Event.
The Falcons continued to open events strong, as Katie Quinn, Ally Torres, Corrine Wilcox, Payton Roach, Zoey Cooper, and Katlyn Smith recorded a 9.15 in the 450 Salto Toss. The Falcons also recorded scores of 8.40 and 8.75, ultimately outscoring the Lions 26.30-25.20.
Ally Torres recorded the best tumbling score, recording an 8.500 in the Open Pass. Rilyn McAllister recorded an 8.475 in the Six-Element Pass, while McAllister, Torres, and Morgan Wright tallied an 8.350 in the Trio Pass. The Lions edged the Falcons in the Tumbling Event, 49.900-49.350.
Montevallo cemented its victory with a strong showing in the Team Event, as the Falcons outscored the Lions 86.49-75.73.
