Women's Basketball Set for Pair of Road Contests Against In-State Foes

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo women's basketball team is set to face a pair of in-state opponents on the road this week in West Alabama (Feb. 19) and UAH (Feb. 21).

Montevallo enters the week with an overall record of 5-18 and a 4-14 mark in Gulf South Conference play.

Last time out, Montevallo scored a season-high 86 points en route to an, 86-78, road victory over AUM. Three Falcons reached double figures against the Warhawks, led by Emily Mouser who scored a career-high 24 points. Mouser's solid performance led her to being named GSC Freshman of the Week for the fourth time this season.

The Falcons average 56.7 points, while shooting 37-percent from the floor and 29.4-percent from long range. Mouser leads the team in scoring (12.2 ppg) and assists (63), while leading the GSC in free throw percentage (.924). Elyse Hughes leads the team in rebounding (5.3 rpg) and field goal percentage (.438), while Kylee Norman holds team leads in steals (25) and three-point field goal percentage (.409).

West Alabama holds an overall record of 11-11 and a 9-10 mark in GSC play. The Tigers split a pair of contests last week, falling to Union and defeating Christian Brothers.

West Alabama averages 69.9 points (fourth in GSC), while shooting 44.1-percent from the floor (second in GSC) and 29-percent from distance. The Tigers lead the league in rebounding, averaging 41.5 boards as a team. Bellah Machen ranks third in the GSC in scoring (16 ppg), while Haley Nichols ranks second in the league in both field goal percentage (.595) and rebounding (9.2 rpg). Hunter Shay ranks third in the league in assists per game (4.1).

UAH enters the week with an overall record of 23-4 and an 18-1 mark in GSC play. The Chargers earned a pair of wins over Christian Brothers and Union last week.

UAH ranks second in the GSC in scoring (75.6 ppg), while leading the league in field goal percentage (.456) and three-point field goal percentage (.362). Lili Wilken leads the GSC in scoring (21.7 ppg), while ranking fifth in field goal percentage (.502), seventh in rebounding (7.1 rpg), and third in steals (2.4 spg). Bella White ranks fifth in the league in assists per game (3.9).

Tipoff at Pruitt Hall is set for 5:30 p.m. CST on Thursday.
