Box Score 2 MOBILE, Ala. – The Montevallo men's and women's tennis teams continued their strong start to the season Thursday, both coming away with victories over Mobile. The Falcon women claimed a 6-1 win, while the men took down the Rams 4-3 in a tight contest.
Klara Podskubkova and
Claire Jaramba led the way in doubles, defeating Emily Grubach and Tara Zivic 6-1 to claim the No. 1 doubles match. Montevallo secured the doubles point with a 6-4 win from
Anna Nevada Henriksen and
Ella De Jesus at No. 3.
In singles, Jaramba continued her strong play with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Grubach at No. 2.
Sophia Baillos followed with a 7-5, 6-3 victory against Zivic at No. 3.
Nevada Henriksen battled to a 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 win at No. 4, while
Andrea Cano took a hard-fought match 6-7 (5), 6-4, 10-6 at No. 5.
Latizia Bojara rounded out the singles action with a straight-sets win over Rachel McMullan, giving the Falcons a 2-0 start to the season.
The men earned the doubles point with an impressive sweep.
Samuel Maia and
Luiz Gobbi defeated their opponents 6-4 at No. 1,
Christian Bacher and
Leonidas Lazarides dominated 6-1 at No. 2, and
Simon Luigs teamed with
Guilherme Gracioli to claim a 6-4 win at No. 3.
Singles play saw Luigs secure a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 2 over Andres Riveros, while
Filippo Mignani fought through a three-set match to defeat Gabriel Esmanhotto 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 at No. 3.
Linus Sparding sealed the win for Montevallo with a 6-2, 6-3 triumph at No. 6.
