MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo Women's Lacrosse team fell to No. 6 Embry-Riddle, 22-6, Friday afternoon at home.
Embry-Riddle opened the contest with a strong first quarter, scoring the first six goals of the game. Montevallo got on the board midway through the first quarter when
Amber Lynch found the back of the net off an assist from
Carsyn Tinney to make it 6-1. After the Eagles responded with four straight goals,
Asha Jamieson converted on a free-position opportunity with 58 seconds remaining in the quarter to cut the deficit to 10-2 heading into the second.
Embry-Riddle continued to build momentum in the second quarter, adding five goals to the frame.
Bridget Quayle scored off another assist from Tinney at the 3:31 mark, but the Eagles carried a 15-3 advantage into halftime.
The Eagles added three more goals in the third quarter.
Ellery Shearer recorded her first goal of the afternoon at the 5:04 mark to make it 17-4, but Embry-Riddle held an 18-4 lead heading into the final quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Shearer added two more goals to complete her hat trick. She scored off an assist from
Claire Withington at 12:02 before connecting again at the 3:49 mark on a pass from Quayle. Embry-Riddle answered with four goals in the quarter to secure the 22-6 victory.
