Montevallo Drops GSC Doubleheader to Trevecca

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo baseball team fell in both games of a GSC doubleheader to Trevecca on Saturday at Kermit A. Johnson Field at Bob Riesener Stadium. The Trojans claimed the opener 4-1 before an 8-1 victory in the finale.

Game 1 | Montevallo 1, Trevecca 4

Trevecca wasted no time getting on the board, using an RBI single in the top of the first inning to take an early lead. The Trojans added to their advantage later in the frame with a solo home run to make it 2-0. Trevecca tacked on two insurance runs in the eighth on a double and a single, stretching the lead to 4-0.

Montevallo broke through in the bottom half of the eighth when Ian Cartwright laced a double to right field to plate Jack Fitzgerald and put the Falcons on the board.

The Falcons brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth inning but were unable to capitalize as Trevecca secured the 4-1 win and clinched the series.

Game 2 | Montevallo 1, Trevecca 8

The Trojans again struck early in the series finale, scoring three runs in the opening inning to seize control. Trevecca added another three-run frame in the third to extend the lead to 6-0.

Hollon Brock delivered Montevallo's lone run in the fourth inning, ripping a double just inside the left-field line to score Jack Fitzgerald.

Trevecca answered with two more runs in the sixth, pulling away for the 8-1 final.
