MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's basketball continues its conference slate this week hosting Union and Christian Brothers on Feb. 5 and 7, respectively.

The Falcons head into the weekend with a 15-6 overall record and an 11-4 mark in conference play after posting a 3-2 mark in nonconference action to start the season. Montevallo opened the conference slate with a road loss at Lee before picking up four consecutive wins over Trevecca Nazarene, Delta State, Mississippi College and Christian Brothers. Montevallo closed the 2025 calendar year with a loss to Union before topping Point, 91-61, on New Year's Eve. January began with an 89-62 home win over Auburn Montgomery ahead of a 71-68 win over Alabama Huntsville on Jan. 4 and 8, respectively. Montevallo then fell in back-to-back outings against No. 14 West Alabama and Valdosta State. The Falcons returned to the win column with a 97-87 road win over West Florida on Jan. 17 before topping TNU and Lee at home. In the Falcons' most recent road trip, Montevallo picked up a 76-54 win over Mississippi College on Jan. 29 before topping Delta State, 76-69 on Jan. 31.
The Falcons' offense ranks T-4
th in the Gulf South Conference with an average of 78.7 points game on a .466 shooting percentage while firing a .353 mark from deep and adding a .755 percentage from the free-throw line. Montevallo on average records 36.7 rebounds per game while adding 9.0 offensive boards per game. The Falcons rank second in the league with an average of 15.95 assists per game while posting just 12.6 turnovers for a 1.27 assist-to-turnover ratio. On the other end of the floor, Montevallo allows just 69.6 points per game for the second lowest mark in the conference while holding opponents to a 40.8-percent shooting mark with a league-best 31.6-percent three-point mark from Falcon opponents. On the glass, Montevallo allows 33.9 rebounds per game while forcing 13.7 turnovers on an average of 9.00 steals per game.
Derek Moore continues to lead the GSC with an average of 19.0 points per game on a league-high 62.8-percent shooting mark while shooting 82.2-percent. from the line and ranking seventh in the league with an average of 7.1 rebounds per game.
Brandon Fussell ranks second on the team and ninth in the league with 15.6 points per game while adding a GSC second-best 5.4 assists per game and a league-high 2.1 steals per game.
Jaylen Curry's 11.9 points per game rank third on the team with a 48.0-percent shooting mark while adding 5.8 rebounds per game.
Union holds an 8-11 overall record and a 4-9 mark in conference play after posting a 3-2 mark in nonconference action to start the season. The Bulldogs posted a 4-2 mark in the month of December in the first stretch of conference play with wins over Delta state, Christian Brothers and Montevallo while falling to Mississippi College and Auburn Montgomery. Union opened 2026 with a road loss at UAH before falling to West Alabama on Jan. 4. The Bulldogs continued its skid with loss against Valdosta State, West Florida, Lee and Trevecca Nazarene. Union added a 74-68 win over Mississippi College on Jan. 22 before dropping a matchup at Christian Brothers, 70-66, on Feb. 2.
Union averages a total of 77.3 points per game on a 44.8-percent shooting mark while shooting 31.3 percent from deep and 75.8 percent from the free-throw line. On the glass, the Bulldogs average a total of 37.2 rebounds per game while posting 11.7 offensive boards per contest. Union averages 13.05 assists per game with 11.8 turnovers per game for a 1.11 assist-to-turnover ratio. Defensively, Union allows 78.5 points per game on an opponent shooting percentage of 45.6 percent while allowing a 36.7-percent clip from long range. Union leads the GSC with an average of 3.84 blocks per game while posting 6.26 steals per game and forcing 11.1 turnovers per contest.
Terrence Ringo leads the team with an average of 18.2 points per game on a 58.1-percent shooting mark while leading the conference with an average of 9.6 rebounds per game. Will Lovings-Watts ranks second on the squad with an average of 16.7 points per game while adding 5.9 rebounds per contest. Mason McBride and Jamiir Allen rank third and fourth on the team with 9.5 and 9.4 points per game while each player shooting better that 43-percent from the floor.
CBU heads into Saturday's meeting with Montevallo with a 4-13 overall record and a 3-10 mark in nonconference action after posting a 1-3 mark in nonconference action to open the season. December saw the Bucs post a 1-4 record to start conference play with four-consecutive losses against MC, DSU, Union and Montevallo before picking up a 69-64 win over AUM on Dec. 20. On Jan. 2, the Bucs fell to West Alabama before dropping a road meeting at UAH on Jan. 4. CBU then dropped home meeting with Valdosta State and Trevecca Nazarene before travelling to Lee for an 82-72 loss on Jan. 17. Most recently, CBU picked up a 66-64 win over Delta State at home before topping Union, 70-66, on Feb. 2.
CBU's offense has posted an average of 67.2 points per game while shooting 42.1 percent from the floor with a 33.4-percent mark from long range and a 76.0-percent clip from the free-throw line. On the boards, the Bucs average 38.2 rebounds per game with the third-most offensive boards per game in the league with 13.6 per game. CBU posts an average of 13.41 assists while recording 11.8 turnovers per game for a 1.13 assist-to-turnover ratio. Defensively, CBU allows 74.3 points per game on a 45.8-percent shooting mark and a 35.0-percent clip from long range. CBU averages just 5.47 steals per game with an average of 8.5 turnovers from opponents.
Marquis Gill leads CBU's scoring with 18.8 points per game which ranks second in the league behind just
Derek Moore while shooting 42.5 percent from the field and 35.3 percent from long range. Iman Kheirati ranks second the squad with 14.8 points per game while adding a team-high 9.8 rebounds per game which ranks third among conference leaders. Jabari Phillip ranks third on the team with 8.4 points per game while shooting 52.7 percent from the floor and adding 3.6 rebounds per game.
