MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo women's basketball team is set to host a pair of games this week against Union (Feb. 5) and Christian Brothers (Feb. 7). Saturday's contest against CBU will serve as the Power of Pink/Play4Kay game.
Montevallo holds an overall record of 3-17 and a 2-13 mark in Gulf South Conference play. The Falcons dropped a pair of close road contests last week, falling to Mississippi College (60-52) and Delta State (57-49). Carlyn Burdette led the way for Montevallo last week, averaging 13 points per contest.
The Falcons average 54.5 points, while shooting 35.7-percent from the floor and 28.2-percent from distance. On the season, Emily Mouser leads the team in scoring (11.4 ppg) and assists (56), while Elyse Hughes leads the team in rebounding (5.5 rpg) and Kylee Norman leads the team in steals (21).
Union holds an overall record of 14-7 and a 9-4 mark in GSC play. Last time out, the Bulldogs earned a dominant, 84-41, victory over Christian Brothers on Monday. Union leads the league in scoring (86.2 ppg), while ranking third in field goal percentage (.423) and second in three-point field goal percentage (.330). Olivia Lee leads the team in scoring (15.7 ppg – fourth in GSC), rebounding (6.1 rpg), and field goal percentage (.406). Abigail Bryan leads the GSC in three-point field goal percentage (.390) and Courtney Zensen leads the league in three-point field goals per game (2.5). Morgan Escobedo leads the league in assist/turnover ration (2.9) and ranks fourth in steals (2.4).
Christian Brothers enters the week with a 3-16 overall record and a 0-13 mark in GSC play. Last time out, the Lady Bucs fell to Union on Monday. CBU averages 53.0 points, while shooting 35.8-percent from the floor and 22.9-percent from long range. Donee' Frazier leads the team in scoring (17.4 ppg – 10 games). Alice Conrad leads the team in rebounding (6.5), assists (48), and steals (2.6 – third in GSC), while Emily Sawyer ranks fourth in the league in blocks (18).
