SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – A trio of Falcons concluded their 2025-26 seasons on Friday at the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships as Cole Hunt, Carson Freeman, and Jake Chisolm represented Montevallo on the national stage.
Carson Freeman dropped his championship preliminary round match to Grand Valley State's Maclain Morency by a 14-3 major decision. Freeman's tournament run came to an end with a 4-1 decision to Millersville's Richie DeFulvio.
Cole Hunt fell to top-seeded Isaiah Gamez of Adams State by a 5-0 decision in his opening match. Hunt's tournament concluded following an 11-3 loss to Sloan Johannsen of Northern State.
Jake Chisolm dropped his opening match by an 8-1 decision to No. 3 Sam Richardson of McKendree. Chisolm battled in the consolation bracket but ultimately fell to No. 6 Ivan Smith Jr. of New Mexico Highlands in a 4-1 decision.
Freeman finished his junior campaign with a 23-11 record, including a ranked victory, while posting a 10-3 mark in dual action. The Alabaster, Ala. native also went 15-4 in bonus-point bouts. Hunt turned in a historic season for the Falcons, finishing with a 32-4 record and setting a new program record for wins while going a perfect 12-0 in dual competition. He also recorded a 22-1 mark in bonus-point matches. Chisolm wrapped up the season with a 12-9 overall record and became the program's first two-time NCAA qualifier.
As a team, the Falcons posted a program-best 10 dual wins and set several scoring and margin-of-victory records during the season, highlighting another major step forward in just the program's third year of competition.
