Falcons Open PBC Play with 22-2 Win Over Virginia State

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's lacrosse opened Peach Belt Conference play with a 22-2 victory over Virginia State on Saturday afternoon at home.

The Falcons wasted no time setting the tone, with 12 goals in the opening quarter while holding the Trojans scoreless. Matthew Boas led the early surge with four first-quarter goals, while Lucas Mullen added a pair as Montevallo built a commanding lead within the first 15 minutes.

Montevallo continued its offensive momentum into the second quarter, adding five more goals to extend the lead to 17-0. Mullen recorded a hat trick before halftime and finished a man-up opportunity, while goals from Zach Reed, Hudson Haire, and Devin Virk highlighted a balanced attack. Virginia State found the back of the net late in the second to make it 17-1 heading into the break.

Out of halftime, Virginia State added one more goal in the third quarter, but Montevallo quickly responded with back-to-back scores from William Angus and Gage Farris to maintain control at 19-2.

The Falcons closed out the game with three goals in the fourth quarter, including scores from Matthew Egorshin, Owen Coffey, and Angelo Fioriello to secure the 22-2 victory.
