TIGERVILLE, S.C. – Montevallo women's lacrosse rallied in the second half to secure a 12-10 road victory over North Greenville on Saturday, March 7.
North Greenville struck first with a pair of early free position goals to take a 2-0 lead in the opening minutes.
Chloe Norman got Montevallo on the board midway through the first quarter with an unassisted goal. The Falcons responded late in the quarter as
Claire Withington scored on a man-up opportunity before
Kennedy Goddard converted a free-position shot in the final minute to even the score at 3-3 heading into the second quarter.
North Greenville had control for most of the second quarter, scoring five goals to build an 8-3 advantage. Montevallo began to chip away at the deficit late in the half as
Ellery Shearer scored on a free-position attempt before Goddard added her second goal of the game to cut the lead to 8-5 at half.
The Falcons surged back in the third quarter with a dominant offensive run.
Ally Rich opened the scoring with a goal off an assist from Norman. Norman added a free-position goal to pull Montevallo within one. Shearer then found the back of the net to tie the game at 8-8.
Bridget Quayle game Montevallo its first lead with a free-position, and Rich capped the five-goal run with her second goal of the quarter to give the Falcons a 10-8 lead heading into the fourth.
North Greenville battled back early in the final quarter with two goals to tie, but Mikaela quickly answered for Montevallo with an unassisted goal. Shearer added her third goal with just under six minutes remaining, assisted by Withington, to secure the 12-10 victory.
