FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The third-seeded Montevallo acrobatics and tumbling team fell to No. 2-seed and 12th-ranked Lander 258.280-253.750 in the Conference Carolinas semifinals on Saturday. The Falcons set a new program best with the 253.750 meet total.
Lander opened the meet strong, recording three scores over 9.2 to take an early edge in the Compulsory Event (37.025-36.400).
The Falcons followed that up with strong performances in the Acro Event, outscoring the Bearcats in the Five and Seven-Elements. Lexie Cole, Rilyn McAllister, and Alesandra Vega recorded a 9.825 in the Five-Element, while Katie Quinn, Corrine Wilcox, Katlyn Smith, and Raedyn Register scored a 9.575 in the Seven-Element. Montevallo outscored Lander 28.175-27.500 in the Acro Event.
Montevallo opened the Pyramid Event strong, outscoring Lander in the Inversion heat 9.400-9.350. The Bearcats closed the event strong to ultimately outscore the Falcons 28.850-28.500.
Katie Quinn, Ally Torres, Corrine Wilcox, Payton Roach, Zoey Cooper, and Katlyn Smith earned the highest Toss score, recording an 8.900 in the 450 Salto heat. The Bearcats edged the Falcons in the Toss Event 26.975-26.225.
The Falcons saw two-season highs in the Tumbling Event, as Tracie Leopold recorded a season-high 9.525 in the Aerial pass and Rilyn McAllister scored a season-high 9.150 in the Six-Element pass. Montevallo earned its second-highest score of the season in the Trio pass, as Rilyn McAllister, Ally Torres, and Morgan Wright earned an 8.200. The Bearcats ultimately took home the Tumbling Event 52.400-49.750.
Lander edged Montevallo in the Team Event 85.530-84.700.
