MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's lacrosse faced a tough test on Saturday morning, falling to No. 1 Flagler, 23-4, in Gulf South Conference action at home.
Flagler wasted no time setting the tone, scoring four goals in the opening minutes and building a 10-1 lead by the end of the first quarter.
Ellery Shearer provided the early response for Montevallo, finding the back of the net at the 11:28 mark to put the Falcons on the board.
The Saints continued their offensive surge into the second quarter, outscoring Montevallo 6-1 in the period.
Mikaela Barbieri scored the lone goal of the quarter for the Falcons off an assist from
Claire Withington, but Flagler carried a commanding 16-2 advantage into halftime.
The third quarter saw Flagler maintain control, adding four more goals while holding Montevallo scoreless. The Saints capitalized on multiple player-up opportunities to extend their lead to 20-2 heading into the final quarter.
Montevallo showed fight in the fourth quarter, with
Chloe Norman scoring off an assist from Shearer before Shearer added her second goal of the game late. Despite the late push, Flagler closed out the contest with three more goals to secure the 23-4 victory.
