CLEVELAND, Miss. – Behind a dominant performance on the mound from
Zach Wyatt and a timely swing from
Hollon Brock, the Montevallo baseball team picked up a 1-0 victory over Delta State on Tuesday evening at Harvey Stadium at Ferriss Field.
Wyatt was in control from the first pitch, tossing a complete game shutout while allowing just four hits and striking out seven to earn his fifth win of the season.
In a game where offense was at a premium, Montevallo broke through in the fourth inning. With two outs, Brock delivered the decisive blow, launching a solo home run to left field to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead.
Delta State mounted its biggest threat in the seventh, loading the bases with two outs. Wyatt answered the challenge, inducing a foul popout to escape the jam before retiring the final six batters he faced to secure the shutout.
