TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Montevallo men's tennis team saw its season come to an end Thursday, falling 4-2 to top-ranked West Florida in the GSC Quarterfinals.
Montevallo came out strong, securing the doubles point with convincing wins at No. 2 and No. 3. The No. 39 duo of Simon Luigs and Guilherme Gracioli rolled to a 6-1 victory over UWF's Vicente Couto and Mateo Martinez at No. 3. Shortly after, Luiz Gobbi and Samuel Maia defeated Rafael Sabio and Goncalo Quintela, 6-2 at No. 2 to clinch the point.
West Florida responded in singles play to shift the momentum. Gracioli earned a solid 6-2, 6-3 win over Couto at No. 3, but the Argonauts picked up victories at No. 1, No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6 to secure the 4-2 decision.
The Falcons conclude the season with a 4-11 overall record after making their sixth consecutive GSC Tournament appearance (canceled in 2019-20 due to COVID-19).
