WINGATE, N.C. – Montevallo Acrobatics & Tumbling closed the regular season with a program record score in Friday's tri-meet. The Falcons recorded a 252.830, defeating Newberry (161.210) and falling to No. 14 Wingate (257.720).
Montevallo opened the meet with a solid start in the Compulsory Event. The Falcons recorded two scores over 9.40 which included tying a season-high 9.80 in the Pyramid heat. Montevallo finished the Compulsory Event with a total score of 36.60, while Wingate recorded a 37.95 and Newberry scored an 18.90.
Montevallo followed that up with a strong showing in the Acro Event. Most notably, Katie Quinn, Corrine Wilcox, Katlyn Smith, and Raedyn Register recorded a season-high 9.65 in the Seven-Element. Lexie Cole, Rilyn McAllister, and Alesandra Vega recorded a 9.55 in the Five-Element. The Falcons finished the Acro Event with a 28.00. Wingate recorded a 28.45 and Newberry recorded a 25.00.
Montevallo recorded scores of 9.60, 9.70 (tied season-high in Synchronized heat), and 9.60 in the Pyramid Event to finish with a total score of 28.90. Wingate scored a 29.25 and Newberry recorded a 24.50.
Katie Quinn, Ally Torres, Corrine Wilcox, Payton Roach, Zoey Cooper, and Katlyn Smith earned the best Toss score, recording a 9.00 in the 450 Salto heat. The Falcons finished the Toss Event with a score of 26.80, compared to Wingate's 27.25 and Newberry's 21.90.
In the Tumbling Event, Rilyn McAllister, Ally Torres, and Morgan Wright recorded a 7.950 in the Trio Pass. Tracie Leopold scored a 9.025 in the Aerial Pass, while Katie Quinn scored an 8.400 in the Open Pass. Montevallo recorded a 48.900 in the Tumbling Event, compared to Wingate's 52.050 and Newberry's 31.000.
Montevallo closed the meet strong, earning the best Team Event score. Montevallo recorded an 83.36, while Wingate scored a 82.77 and Newberry recorded a 59.71.
