OXFORD, Ala. – The Montevallo baseball team saw its 2026 season come to an end Friday afternoon, falling 4-3 to Trevecca in the opening round of the Gulf South Conference Tournament at Choccolocco Park.
Trevecca broke through early, plating four runs in the first inning. From there, both starting pitchers settled in and kept the game in check, as neither side managed to score again until the sixth inning.
Montevallo began to chip away in the top of the sixth when
Caleb Karll reached base to lead off the frame and later scored on a single to right field by
Mason Woolever. The Falcons continued to build momentum later in the inning, as
McGwire Turner launched a two-run home run to left, cutting the deficit to one.
Despite creating opportunities down the stretch, Montevallo was unable to push across the tying run as Trevecca held on for the 4-3 victory.
NOTABLES
Montevallo concludes the season with a 27-24 overall record. The Falcons also earned postseason recognition, placing three players on the All-GSC teams, with
Zach Wyatt and
Jack Fitzgerald named to the First Team and
Hudson Allen earning Second Team honors.
