BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference released its 2026 preseason men's soccer awards, as Montevallo was tabbed fifth in the preseason poll. A pair of Falcons earned Preseason All-GSC honors, while three were named on the Newcomer Watchlist.
Montevallo garnered 59 points to earn the No. 5 spot in the GSC Men's Soccer Preseason Poll. The Falcons finished nine points behind No. 4-UAH, while AUM (94), Mississippi Christian (90), Christian Brothers (77) earned the top-three spots.
A pair of Falcons were Preseason All-GSC selections in sophomore
Alex Mueller and senior
Dakota Hart. Mueller had a solid freshman season, playing in and starting 13 games with a total of 935 minutes of action. He helped the Montevallo defense secure five clean sheets with four of them coming in GSC play and two coming against ranked opponents. He tallied an assist in a win over Trevecca, while totaling seven shots on the season. Hart was solid for Montevallo all last season in the midfield. He played in and started all 17 games. He tallied one goal, two assists, and four points, while recording 21 shots and nine shots on goal. Defensively, he helped Montevallo secure the five clean shots. Hart scored a goal against Mars Hill, while his assists came against Nova Southeastern and West Alabama.
A trio of Falcons were named to the GSC Newcomer Watchlist including
Luis Billep (Fr., M, Rostock, Germany),
Ben Green (So., D, Prattvile, Ala.), and
Joaquin Wladdimiro (So., F, Santiago, Chile).
Montevallo opens the season on Thurs., Aug. 27, against Mars Hill.
