MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's soccer opens the 2026 campaign with a 3-3 draw at home against Mars Hill behind three goals in the second half and four saves from
Andre Etcheverry.
Mars Hill got on top early with a goal in the first four minutes to take a 1-0 lead on just the second shot of the game. After 16 minutes of game time and a pair of shots from Montevallo, the Lions added to their lead with 25 minutes left in the half. With just one shot on goal from Montevallo in the final 25 minutes, Mars Hill held a 2-0 lead heading into the break.
Etcheverry kept the Falcons in the game with a pair of saves in the first 30 minutes of the second half. With Montevallo trailing by a pair,
Juan Diego Alfaro finally broke the ice on an unassisted effort in the 76
th minute. Just a few moments later,
Dakota Hart found the back of the net to knot the game at 2-2. In the 84
th minute, Mars Hill looked to control the outcome with a third goal to go up by one late.
Ege Can Inceman's unassisted effort with just four minutes on the clock gave Montevallo a season-opening draw with the Falcons' third second-half goal.
