ANDERSON, S.C. – Montevallo men's soccer dropped its first game of the season in a 2-0 loss on the road at Anderson on Wednesday night.
After denying a goal in the sixth minute,
Andre Etcheverry saved a penalty kick in the 18
th minute but the Falcons couldn't turn away a follow-up shot from Anderson, leaving Montevallo trailing 1-0 early. After a back-and-forth first half, Etcheverry added another save in the 36
th minute to send the game to the half with the Trojans leading by one.
Early in the second half,
Benjamin Williams looked to equalize in the first three minutes, but a save from the Anderson keeper denied Montevallo its first goal. After another three saves from Etcheverry,
Ege Can Inceman nearly tied the game with his shot on goal but the Falcons were yet again denied. A Falcon miscue in the 86
th minute gave Anderson a 2-0 lead and would eventually seal the game with Montevallo falling on the road.
