Box Score MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's soccer opened Gulf South Conference action with a statement 5-0 win over Trevecca Nazarene.
In the 11
th minute,
Ayla Ertekin opened the scoring for Montevallo after taking advantage of a TNU miscue to put the Falcons out in front early. UM fired another three shots on goal over the next 30 minutes of game time before
Karsyn Ross found the back of the net with assists going to
Katelynn Kott and
Tessa Harrington. The Falcons held off a Trojan scoring chance to take a 2-0 lead into the half.
Just over ten minutes into the second half,
Lainey Farabaugh found her first of the day off an assist from Ertekin to stretch UM's lead to 3-0. In the 63
rd minute,
Jolie Cazale tallied her lone save of the day before Farabaugh added a second just over a minute later to give UM a 4-0 lead. On a Montevallo free kick just outside the penalty area,
Hannah Payne beat the Trojan goalkeeper for her first of the season and give Montevallo its 5-0 win on Saturday evening.
