MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's soccer dropped its first Gulf South Conference game of the season in a 4-2 loss to No. 10 Lee on Saturday night.
The Lady Flames come out on the front foot with a shot on goal in the first seven minutes before Lee took a 1-0 lead in the 17
th minute. After Lainey Farabaigh posted Montevallo's first shot on goal of the night, Lee added a second goal in 27
th minute to go up 2-0 on the Falcons. The final 20 minutes of the first half saw both sides trade possession before heading into the break with Montevallo trailing.
After an early shot on goal from
Elise Marquardt, Lee extended its lead early in the second to go up by three goals in the 58
th minute. The 69
th minute saw Montevallo score its first goal of the night off the foot of
Natalie Sligar just five minutes before
Batie Casey brought the Falcons back within one in the 74
th minute with her first goal of the season. In the 82
nd minute, Lee put the game out of reach for the Falcons with a fourth goal. Montevallo saw a pair of scoring chances in the closing stages but would eventually take its second loss of the season.
