Men's Soccer Falls to Nova Southeastern

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's soccer dips to 0-2-1 on the season after falling at home to Nova Southeastern, 3-2, on Sunday night.
 
The Falcons jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the third minute with an unassisted goal from Luis Billep. After a pair of UM shots, Joquin Wladdimiro off an assist from Viktor Willems made the score 2-0 in Montevallo's favor at the 19th minute. With 32 minutes gone in the first half, the Sharks cut the lead in half. The Sharks would knot the score at 2-2 with just seven minutes left to send the game to the half in a tie.
 
Goalkeeper Andre Etcheverry tallied a pair of saves in quick succession to keep the score knotted before a Dakota Hart shot on goal was turned aside. Etcheverry added another save in the 72nd minute before Nova Southeastern took a 3-2 lead with just under five minutes to go. Montevallo tallied just one shot in the closing stages to fall to NSU, 3-2, on Varsity Field.

  • The Sharks won six corners on the night with Montevallo taking just two while UM was booked twice for yellow cards and one for Nova Southeastern.
  • Viktor Willems finished with five shots and two on goal with an assists in 72 minutes of action.
  • Luis Billep tallied his first goal as a Falcon on one shot in his 90 minutes of action.
