CLEVELAND, Miss. – For the first time in the 2026 campaign, Montevallo women's soccer tied with Delta State, 1-1, after a late goal from
Ayla Ertekin.
Montevallo fired a pair of early shots on goal off the feet of
Madysen Legere and
Ayla Ertekin but a pair of saves from the DSU keeper kept the score level. A team save from Delta State in the 21
st minute kept Elise Marqaurdt from scoring the first goal of the day.
Ciara Duff was forced to make a pair of saves in the 36
th and 38
th minutes before
Katelynn Kott and
Lainey Farabaugh were denied by the keeper to head into the half in a 0-0 tie.
Out of the break, Ertekin posted a pair of shots on goal early before adding a third after a second shot on goal from Farabaugh in the 50
th minute. Just a pair shot were taken over the next 30 minutes before Delta State finally broke the ice with a goal in the 84
th minute. On the ensuing Montevallo possession, Ertekin scored the game-tying goal off an assist from
Natalie Sligar to salvage a point from the Falcons' road trip to Mississippi with a 1-1 draw.
