Gino Cozzi joined the Montevallo baseball coaching staff ahead of the 2026 season as the program’s volunteer assistant coach.

In his first season on staff, Cozzi helped guide the Falcons to a 27-24 overall record, including 18 Gulf South Conference victories. Montevallo saw three players earn All-GSC honors, while two Falcons garnered All-South Region recognition.

Cozzi transitioned into coaching following a standout four-year playing career at Montevallo. A two-time All-GSC Second Team selection, he established himself as one of the most accomplished pitchers in program history during his time on the mound.

He made an immediate impact after arriving in Montevallo in 2022, leading the team with 77.2 innings pitched while making 15 appearances and 14 starts. Over his final two seasons, Cozzi became a fixture in the Falcons’ weekend rotation, making 28 starts and serving as one of the anchors of the pitching staff.

Upon completing his playing career, Cozzi ranked among the program’s all-time leaders in several categories. He finished second in program history in games started (45), third in innings pitched (223.2), and fourth in pitching victories (17).
