Spencer Wright enters his first year at Montevallo as an Assistant Director of Media Relations. He serves as the primary contact for Volleyball, Men's and Women's Swimming, Wrestling, Baseball, and Men's and Women's Tennis.
Wright joined Montevallo after a three-year stint at Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi. He began his time at Belhaven in August 2022 as a Graduate Assistant in Athletics Communications and was promoted in February of 2023 to Assistant Sports Information Director and Coordinator of Digital Media.
In his role at Belhaven, Wright led the department's digital media efforts, particularly on social media, and served as the primary graphic designer. During his tenure, Wright grew the main X account following by 37% and established consistent social media branding for all Blazers' athletic teams.
Wright also played a key role in maintaining athletic statistics and records while contributing as a secondary broadcaster for the Blazers Sports Network. Wright also contributed to the gameday atmosphere for all Belhaven home athletic events, serving as the lead videoboard content creator for baseball, football, and soccer.
Before his time at Belhaven, Wright worked on the Marketing and Promotions team for the Mississippi Braves, the former Double-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves.
A native of Madison, Mississippi, Wright earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Mississippi State University in December of 2021 before completing a Master of Business Administration with a Sports Administration concentration from Belhaven in May 2024.
Wright and his wife, Rush, currently reside in Birmingham, Alabama.
