Acuff will join the Falcons ahead of the 2024-25 season after spending the 2023-24 season as an NCAA Division I Assistant Coach and Director of Basketball Operations at Lipscomb University.
Â
"Will is an immediate fit for what we are building here at Montevallo," said Komara. "Due to his time at the Division 1 level and also as a head coach at the high school level, Will has experience and knowledge that will be extremely valuable to our program from day one. He has a rare understanding of how to develop relationships and will positively impact our student-athletes on a daily basis. Most importantly, he is an extremely high character individual that embodies what we want our program to be about. I could not be more excited for Will to join the Falcon family."
Â
Prior to beginning his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Lipscomb for the 2021-22 season, Acuff was a four-year letterman at UAH. In 2021, Acuff helped the Chargers to a NCAA tournament berth. In high school, the Madison, Alabama native led Madison Academy to three consecutive state championships and was also part of two baseball state championships.
Â
After serving as a GA for the Bison for one season, Acuff was named the Head Coach of the Randolph Highschool boys basketball team from 2022-23.
Â
During both seasons at Lipscomb, the Bison advanced the ASUN Conference Tournament. Last season, Acuff helped coach Lipscomb to a 78-75 win over Florida State during the regular season as the Bison finished top-25 in the nation offensively for the year.
