Matt Durkin is entering his fifth season as an assistant coach for the University of Montevallo women's basketball program.
Durkin joined the Falcons after one season as the head women's basketball coach at Judson College in Marion, Alabama.
Durkin got his start in college basketball while attending the University of Connecticut in the men's basketball office and gained hands-on experience as he performed duties essential for the operations of the program.
Durkin began his basketball coaching career at The Franklin Academy in Wake Forest, North Carolina, and compiled a record of 63-19 in three seasons as the varsity girls' coach, which included two conference championships and multiple state tournament appearances.
Durkin has also coached varsity boys' basketball and baseball, two AAU teams and assisted with, and led, various basketball camps and clinics.
Durkin graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in Business Administration and earned his M.Ed in Secondary Education from North Carolina State University. He and his wife, Jaye, have two sons, Charlie and Simeon, and a daughter, Eden.
