Anisa Nelson

The University of Montevallo men's and women's swimming Head Coach Lori Riegler has announced the addition of Anisa Nelson to the staff as an assistant coach.
 
Nelson joins Montevallo after she spent time in Houston at HTX Swims. She was the Head Coach for the age group swimmers and the assistant coach for both the middle school and high school age groups. Nelson earned her Masters in Social Work in August of 2024 from the University of Houston.
 
Before her coaching career, Nelson was a former student-athlete at the University of Montevallo and was a part of the inaugural class for the Montevallo Swimming program. Nelson is in the Montevallo record book as she swam the ninth fastest time in program history in the 1000 free with a time of 11:07.88 and the 10th fastest time in the 1650 free with a time of with a time of 18:49.46.
 
"I am very excited to have the opportunity to join this season and give back to the swim program, athletic department and the university that has given me so much," said Nelson.
 
Nelson joins us for the 2024-2025 season before leaving to Eswatini with the Peace Corps in June of 2025.
