Haven O’Quinn enters her third season at the helm of the University of Montevallo volleyball program in 2025.
O’Quinn was introduced as the eighth head coach in program history by Director of Athletics Mark Richard on February 14, 2023.
"We are excited to bring Coach O'Quinn on board and welcome her to our Montevallo family," Richard said at the time. "She has had tremendous success throughout her coaching career at different levels and we are looking forward to what she can do in the Purple and Gold."
In 2024, O'Quinn guided the Falcons to their second straight GSC Tournament berth. Three freshmen combined for five GSC weekly awards, highlighted by outside hitter Nikol Antova, who was named 2024 GSC Freshman of the Year. That fall, Montevallo also notched its first ranked win in more than two decades, upsetting No. 22 Augusta on September 20 for the program’s first top-25 victory since 2003.
O’Quinn’s debut season in 2023 saw the Falcons post a 13-18 overall record and a 10-6 GSC mark, earning the No. 4 seed and a first-round bye in the conference tournament. Montevallo advanced to the semifinals after rallying from a two-set deficit to defeat Valdosta State in the quarterfinals. Middle blocker Allie Dishman capped the year with First Team All-GSC honors.
O’Quinn arrived in Montevallo after a decorated six-year tenure at Birmingham-Southern College, where she compiled a 117-44 record and led the Panthers to six consecutive Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament Finals and four NCAA Division III Tournament appearances. Her 2019 squad captured the SAA regular-season title, and she was named SAA Coach of the Year. Under her leadership, BSC produced five All-Americans, eight All-Region honorees, and 24 All-Conference selections, while also excelling academically with six straight AVCA All-Academic Team awards.
Before her collegiate success, O’Quinn made her mark at the high school level, building Mountain Brook High School into an Alabama powerhouse. She guided the Spartans to three consecutive Class 7A state championships (2014–16) and the program’s first-ever title in 2014. Her coaching background also includes stints at Pelham High School and with multiple club programs.
A native of Daphne, Alabama, O’Quinn played collegiately at Troy University. She is one of only three players in Troy’s Division I history to record more than 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs.
