Jason McCown

Jason McCown is entering his fifth season as an assistant coach for the University of Montevallo volleyball program in 2022.  He was elevated to Associate Head Coach in 2021.  Overall, the Falcons are 74-38 (37-16, GSC) during McCown’s tenure as an assistant. 
 
McCown’s first two seasons in Montevallo were highlighted by a 23-9 record in Gulf South Conference matches and back-to-back trips to the GSC Tournament.  In his third, the shortened COVID-19 season of 2020-21, the Falcons went 12-1 and finished as runners-up in the GSC Spring Championship Series.  In Fall 2021, the Falcons went 21-14 and advanced to the GSC Tournament Championship match.
 
McCown arrived in Montevallo after stints at Texas Woman's University, Olivet College, and Northern Illinois University.
 
McCown spent the 2017-18 season as a graduate assistant at Texas Woman's University. In his first and only season, he helped the Pioneers to a runner-up finish in the Lone Star Conference Tournament. In addition, McCown coached with the Texas Advantage Volleyball club program, where his 18-Blue team qualified for the USAV Girls' Junior National Championships in the 18-USA Division.
 
Prior to his stint in Texas, McCown served as Assistant Coach for both the men’s and women’s volleyball teams at Olivet College (DIII, Michigan) during the 2016-17 season.
 
While attending Northern Illinois University, McCown volunteered as an assistant during the 2013 and 2014 seasons.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree in physical education from NIU in 2015.
 
McCown also spent several years coaching high school and club volleyball in his home state of Illinois, as Assistant Coach for the boys’ volleyball team at Lake Park High School and Assistant Coach for the girls’ volleyball team at Benet Academy.
 
McCown played collegiate club volleyball at Illinois State, College of DuPage, and Northern Illinois.  He was a 2-time NCVF Division I-AA National Champion with DuPage in 2009 and 2010.  At NIU, he was a Midwest-10 All-Conference selection in 2012 and 2013.
