University of Montevallo Athletics

Josie Smith enters her first year as an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Montevallo in 2026. She serves as the athletic trainer for the Falcon’s volleyball and softball programs.

Smith joined the Montevallo staff in 2026 after earning a Master of Athletic Training from the University of Alabama. During her time at Alabama, she worked under certified athletic trainers with Alabama’s rowing, softball and baseball programs, earning valuable experience at the Division I level, as well as, working with the Birmingham Legion under a certified athletic trainer gaining valuable experience at the professional level.

From Bessemer, Alabama, Smith earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Environmental Sciences from the University of Alabama before staying and completing her master’s degree at Alabama.
