Montevallo suffers conference road loss

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women's basketball team fell in a conference matchup at Georgia College Wednesday evening. The Bobcats had a distinct edge on the boards and at the free throw line and earned an 87-52 victory.

Carrington Caise was the leading scorer for the Falcons in the game. The junior recorded 11 points and shot 5-6 from the free throw line off the bench.

Foul trouble plagued Montevallo's Taylor Beverly all evening. The Peach Belt Conference's leading scorer averages 21.9 points per game, but only managed to put up 9 points in this contest. She only played 17 minutes due to foul issues.

Senior Shay Bonner chipped in 10 points for the Falcons.

Shanteona Keys and Enisha Donley led the way for the Bobcats. The duo scored 19 and 17 points, respectively.

Overall, Georgia College grabbed 49 rebounds, while Montevallo only secured 31 boards. Beverly, who came into the game averaging 10.7 rebounds per game, was held in check with only 4 rebounds.

The Bobcats went to the free throw line 20 times, compared to the 13 trips by the Falcons.

Combined in their last two games, Montevallo has had only 17 free throw attempts, while their opponents have attempted 47 free throws.

The Falcons finally return home to Trustmark Arena on Saturday, February 8th. It'll mark the first home game in more than three weeks for the team.

Montevallo will face off with Clayton State in another Peach Belt matchup.

Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m.
