ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The University of Montevallo baseball team fell to Flagler College 13-3 in the final game of a three-game Peach Belt Conference series March 9.
The Falcons (15-7 overall, 7-5 in Peach Belt Conference) took the first two games of the series March 8.
Junior Vinny Rodriguez led Montevallo offensively as he finished 1-for-4 at the plate. Rodriguez drove in one run and scored one run.
Junior Zack Willoughby finished 1-for-2 at the plate and drove in one run, while sophomore Chase Bryant went 1-for-3 at the plate and drove in one run.
Senior Todd Thompson finished 1-for-1 at the plate with a double and scored one run. Senior Jackson Slaid went 1-for-4 at the plate. Freshman Alex Jones finished 1-for-1 at the plate, senior Pablo Martell finished 1-for-2 and sophomore Thomas Bradey went 1-for-3 at the dish.
Senior Will Fulmer also scored one run.
Freshman Alex Pondick (3-2) took the loss after giving up six earned runs on eight hits with one walk in 3 1/3 innings.
The Falcons took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning before the Saints scored 13 unanswered runs. Rodriguez and Willoughby each had an RBI single in the third inning.
Bryant drove in the Falcons' final run with a RBI single in the top of the eighth inning.
The Falcons will return to action Tuesday, March 11 with a non-conference game against the University of North Alabama.
First pitch is set for 5 p.m. at Kermit A. Johnson Field.
