MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo baseball team dropped a pair of games Saturday afternoon to the Georgia College Bobcats.
In the first game of the doubleheader, the Falcons fell by the final score of 23-3.
Montevallo got a strong performance out of leadoff man Scotty Smith. Smith went 3-for-3 in the game, scoring one run and drawing a walk.
Right behind Smith in the lineup was Will Fulmer. Fulmer, a senior who is playing in his final home series this weekend, drove in all three Falcon runs on a monstrous home run.
Out of the bullpen, Taylor Korosec pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing no hits.
In game number two, the Bobcats, who are in third place in the Peach Belt Conference, were again victorious. Georgia College won by the final score of 21-7.
The Falcons racked up 14 hits in the game. Matthew Haskins and Dane Hutcheon each went 3-for-5. Haskins also had an RBI.
Vinny Rodriguez went 2-for-4 in the nightcap with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Jackson Slaid also went 2-for-4 in the contest. His performance was highlighted by a long home run to left center field. The two-run shot was Slaid's 10th of the season.
Fulmer and Pablo Martell each recorded an RBI.
The final game played at Kermit A. Johnson Field in the 2014 season will be tomorrow, April 27th.
First pitch is set for 1 p.m. Senior day festivities will take place before the game begins.
