DAHLONEGA, Ga. – University of Montevallo junior Katherine Goldsby scored a career high 20 points, but it wasn't enough for the Falcons in a 72-55 loss on the road at the University of North Georgia in a Peach Belt Conference contest Feb. 7.
Goldsby made a career-best seven field goals as she finished 7-of-13 from the floor, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. Goldsby also made 4-of-4 attempts at the charity stripe.
Freshman Katija Tarailo added nine points while shooting 3-of-6 from the field for the Falcons, who fell to 1-20 overall and 0-14 in Peach Belt Conference play.
Junior Jacquelyn Thompson contributed eight points with two made 3-point field goals, giving her 68 made 3-pointers this season. Thompson surpassed the Falcons' NCAA Division II era record for most 3-point field goals made in a single season, with 66 made by both Jennifer Hendricks during the 2007-08 season and Alicia Lewis during the 2009-10 season.
Senior Carrington Caise finished with six points while dishing out a team-high four assists. Junior Tianna Hill grabbed a team-high eight rebounds off the bench.
The Falcons will return to action Wednesday, Feb. 11 with a trip to Columbus, Georgia to take on Columbus State University, which leads the Peach Belt Conference with a 22-1 overall record and a 13-1 mark in conference play. The Cougars are ranked No. 11 in the USA Today NCAA Division II poll.
