HOW IT HAPPENED

Montevallo wrapped up the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 3-0 sweep of visiting Tuskegee.

The Falcons stormed out to an early lead and took the first set 25-7. Junior Kristy Bohan recorded four kills and senior Hannah Christie tallied eight assists in the opening frame.

Freshman Harley Masoner came into the match as the Falcons' setter in the second set as Montevallo cruised to a two-set lead with a 25-11 win. The Falcons clinched the set with a pair of service aces by sophomore Brie Blume. Blume, the Peach Belt Conference leader in service aces, recorded six service aces on the day.

The Golden Tigers looked significantly more comfortable in the third set and hung around with Montevallo for the most part. However, junior Jamesia Edmond recorded the set-clinching kill to win the set 25-18 and complete a sweep.

STAT OF THE GAME

Junior Natalie Twyford hit an impressive .333 as she led the Falcons in kills with eight in the match.

UP NEXT

Montevallo will resume Peach Belt Conference action next week. The Falcons will host Francis Marion in conference play Friday, Oct. 21. Montevallo will be looking to avenge an early season sweep by the Patriots in Florence, South Carolina. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
