HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons took the first set 25-21 after recovering from a slow start offensively to finish with a .263 hitting percentage and 14 kills in the frame.

The second set was a back-and-forth affair won by the Patriots. Francis Marion's two senior leaders, Caroline Boone and Carlie Smith, helped the Patriots to a narrow victory. The Falcons were down early before mounting a late comeback that just came up short.

The Falcons dominated the third set as Kristy Bohan stepped up and helped Montevallo run away with a 25-17 win in the frame. .

The Falcons raced out to an early lead in the fourth set, but the Patriots regained their composure late and tied the score at 20-20. Montevallo took advantage of the visitors' defensive confusion and dominance at the net by senior Kristy Bohan to clinch the win.

STAT OF THE GAME

The teams were even with the leaders in kills, assists and digs all having the same numbers. Kristy Bohan and Caroline Boone managed 13 kills each, Hannah Christie aind Carrie McGinnis recorded 36 assists a piece, and Grace Harris and Natalie Vaughn registered 21 digs each. Chandler Cooper contributed 10 kills as the Falcons returned to conference play after a two week absence.

The Falcons face UNC Pembroke tomorrow in the second part of the weekend's doubleheader. The first serve is set for 1 p.m. at Trustmark Arena.
