HOW IT HAPPENED

Flagler overcame a 2-1 deficit against the Falcons to secure a 3-2 win over Montevallo in the second five-set match between the two teams this season.

Flagler scored the first three points of the opening set following a pair of kills by Taja Valmyr and a service ace by Kayla Norelli, which helped the Saints hold off the Falcons in the late stages of the frame as Flagler took the set 25-20.

The Saints jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the second set before Montevallo closed the frame with an impressive 22-8 run on its way to a 25-15 victory in the set. Sophomore Shannon Dudley and senior Chandler Cooper helped the Falcons clinch the win with a pair of kills late in the set.

Montevallo used its momentum from the second set to race out to an early 9-3 lead in the third set following a kill by Cooper. Flagler managed to trim the deficit to 16-15 following a kill by Ashley Cheewah midway through the frame before a 9-4 run by the Falcons gave Montevallo a 25-19 win in the set.

Flagler tied the match at 2-2 with a 25-19 win in the fourth set. The Falcons took a 18-17 lead following a kill by Dudley before the Saints closed the frame with a 8-1 run to force the match into a fifth set.

The Saints raced out to a 7-3 lead, aided by a couple of attack errors by the Falcons, on their way to a 15-9 win in the fifth and final set.

STAT OF THE GAME

The Falcons registered 11 service aces in the five-set match, marking their second highest total in a Peach Belt Conference match this season.
