HOW IT HAPPENED

Armstrong State completed a sweep of the Falcons this season with a 3-0 victory over Montevallo on its home court.

The Pirates opened the match with a 25-20 win over the Falcons in the first set. Junior Kristy Bohan registered a kill to trim an early deficit in the frame to 13-10 before

Armstrong State used a 6-3 run midway through the set to give the Pirates enough room down the stretch to hold on for the win.

Armstrong State survived in a hard-fought 25-23 win in the second set to take a 2-0 lead in the match. Neither team led by more than four points in the frame and the Falcons tied the set at 21-21 following an attack error by the Pirates before Armstrong State ended the set with a 4-2 run to clinch the win.

The Pirates opened the third set with a 13-3 run and coasted to a 25-11 win in the frame to clinch the sweep.

Senior Hannah Christie finished just one assist shy of registering a double-double after posting 27 assists and nine digs.
