HOW IT HAPPENED

Lander overcame a late deficit in the opening set to secure a 26-24 win over the Falcons. A kill by sophomore Shannon Dudley and an attack error by the Bearcats gave the Falcons a 22-20 lead late in the frame. A service ace by freshman Michaela Henderson put the Falcons up 24-21 before Lander rallied with five straight points to take the set.

The Bearcats raced out to a 6-0 lead in the second set before Montevallo stormed back to take the frame 25-22. The Falcons closed the set with a 8-2 run, with a kill by senior Hannah Christie and an attack error by Lander sealing the victory.

Lander held off a late rally by the Falcons to clinch a 25-22 win over Montevallo in the third set. A service ace by sophomore Brie Blume and a kill by junior Kristy Bohan helped the Falcons trim the deficit to 23-21 before a kill by Halle Dotson clinched the set for the Bearcats.

The Bearcats closed out the match with another 25-22 win in the fourth set. A kill by Dudley gave Montevallo a 20-19 advantage late in the frame before a 6-2 run to end the set by Lander sealed the win.

STAT OF THE GAME

Montevallo held a 9-4 edge in service aces in the match, led by sophomore Brie Blume with five service aces. Blume currently leads the Peach Belt Conference in service aces.
