HOW IT HAPPENED
Montevallo dominated Carver while improving to 10-0 all-time against the Cougars with a 106-61 victory in its season opener.
Junior Jamaar Taylor got the crowd on their feet for the first time this season when he threw down an impressive dunk to give the Falcons an early 13-4 advantage with 16:44 remaining in the first half.
A layup by Taylor with five seconds remaining in the first half gave the Falcons a 54-29 advantage heading into the locker room at halftime after shooting 62 percent in the opening period.
The Falcons led by as many as 49 points in the second half when a 3-pointer by freshman Micah Fuller gave Montevallo a 106-57 lead with 1:41 remaining in the game.
Five Falcons finished with double figures in scoring and Montevallo outrebounded the Cougars 41-27 on the glass in an impressive season opener.
STAT OF THE GAME
Senior Javonte Douglas had one of the most impressive debuts in the history of the men's basketball program. The transfer from Old Dominion University paced the Falcons with 29 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the floor, including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc, and grabbed nine rebounds in the season opener.
