HOW IT HAPPENED

-Both teams got off to a slow start in the opening period and struggled from the field.  The Falcons managed only nine points in the opening period. On defense, the Falcons held the Cougars to six points through the first 10 minutes.

-In the second quarter, the Falcons found their rhythm and outshot the Cougars 22-9.  The Falcons opened the period on a 17-4 run that helped them take a commanding 31-15 lead into the break.

-In the third quarter, the Falcons stretched the lead to 20 points as Morgan Smith and Ashley Dunstan both hit from behind the arc.

-In the fourth quarter, Carver College started a rally after taking advantage of Montevallo's difficulty in breaking their press defense.  The Falcons were able to hold off the Cougars' late game rally and hit their free throws down the stretch to come away with the 61-51 victory.

STAT OF THE GAME

-The Falcons dominated the paint in today's game and outscored the Cougars 36-14.  RayVon Christian scored 21 points in tonight's victory going 8 of 14 from the field and also grabbed nine rebounds.
