HOW IT HAPPENED
Montevallo dominated the game from start to finish as the Falcons had three players score in double figures.
In the first period the Falcons opened the game up on a 12-2 run to jump out to an early lead, a lead they never lost. Montevallo was able to extend the lead to as much as 11 points before ending the period with a 21-12 lead.
The second period was more hotly contested as both teams went blow for blow with each other. The 'Canes were able to pull within five points at the 3:42 mark but the Falcons came soaring back and pushed their lead to 10 points to end the half. The Falcons entered halftime holding a 34-24 lead over the 'Canes.
In the third period each team scored 11 points as the Falcons' defense held off the 'Canes' attack. Georgia Southwestern was able to pull within six points before the Falcons stormed back to take a 45-35 lead into the game's final period.
The fourth period went back and forth as the 'Canes tried to cut into the Falcons' lead. Late in the period Georgia Southwestern was able to cut the lead to four points. As the period wound down the Falcons sealed the victory from the line, going 4-for-6 in the final minute, to come away with the 68-60 victory.
STAT OF THE GAME
Katherine Goldsby led the team with 18 points in today's victory to set a new season high.
Courtney McKenzie dominated the boards for the Falcons by pulling down 10 rebounds.
