HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Montevallo jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning in the series opener when senior Taylor Walker lined a three-run homer over the fence in right field.
  • Junior Daniel Pardo blasted a grand slam in the bottom of the fourth inning to push the Falcons' lead to 8-1 at the time.
  • Pardo capped the scoring for the Falcons in the first game of the series with his two-run double to right center field in the bottom of the eighth inning.
  • Senior Aron McRee (5-1) earned the win after allowing three earned runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and two walks in 8 1/3 innings.
  • The Falcons blasted three homers in the bottom of the third inning in the nightcap to open up a 8-0 lead over the Bobcats in the second game of the series.
  • Walker opened the frame with a three-run homer, his second on the day, while senior Thomas Bradey and junior Dominic DeVille each had a solo shot in the inning.
  • Freshman J.D. Minor had a RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning, part of a four-run frame that helped Montevallo push its lead to 12-2 at the time.

Montevallo plated 14 of its 25 runs in the doubleheader on six home runs in the first two games of the series, including a pair of three-run blasts by senior Taylor Walker.

BEYOND THE NUMBERS

The Falcons clinched the series against Georgia College with the doubleheader sweep, marking the first time Montevallo has taken a series against the Bobcats since joining the Peach Belt Conference in 2009.

Senior Taylor Walker continues to lead the Peach Belt Conference in home runs after blasting a pair of homers in the first two games of the series, giving him 11 home runs on the season.

Junior Daniel Pardo finished one RBI shy of tying his season high after driving in six runs in the series opener against Georgia College.

Junior Dane Hutcheon finished one run shy of tying his season high after scoring three runs in the nightcap against the Bobcats.
