HOW IT HAPPENED
- Georgia College took a 4-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning on three home runs in the frame, including solo homers by Logan Mattix and Dylan Cook and a two-run blast by Tanner Giesel.
- The Falcons scored their lone run in the bottom of the fourth inning when senior Thomas Bradey reached on a fielder's choice before scoring on a RBI single through the left side of the infield by freshman J.D. Minor.
- Cook homered for the second time in the game in the top of the sixth inning, with his three-run shot extending the Bobcats' lead to 8-1.
- Senior Cody Hughes (2-1) suffered his first loss of the season after allowing five earned runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and five walks in 5 1/3 innings on the mound.
STAT OF THE DAY
Dylan Cook finished 4-for-5 at the plate with a pair of home runs and drove in four runs for the Bobcats.
BEYOND THE NUMBERS
Senior Taylor Walker went 0-for-4 at the plate against the Bobcats, marking just the second time this season the home run leader in the Peach Belt Conference finished without a hit.
The bottom of the Falcons' order produced three of their four hits against Georgia College, with nine-hole hitter J.D. Minor driving in the lone run for Montevallo.
