HOW IT HAPPENED

• Montevallo took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when junior Dane Hutcheon led off the frame with a single to left field before scoring on a RBI double to left-center field by junior Dominic DeVille.
• The Falcons scored another run in the bottom of the third inning and took a 2-0 lead when senior Jeremy Hyde, who was hit by a pitch, scored on a balk later in the frame.
• Montevallo pushed its lead to 8-0 with six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, which included RBI singles by Hutcheon and Hyde and a RBI double by DeVille.
• North Alabama scored its lone runs in the game in the top of the sixth inning on a RBI double by Chris Blakey and a RBI single by Dylan Calhoun.
• Junior Chris Piteo (3-1) earned the win on the mound after allowing one earned run on four hits with four strikeouts and three walks in five innings.

STAT OF THE DAY

The top half of the Montevallo lineup produced seven of the Falcons' eight hits in the game as the five hitters combined to finish 7-for-18 at the plate.

BEYOND THE NUMBERS

Junior Chris Piteo tied his season high with four strikeouts in the win over the Lions.

The Falcons' pitching staff allowed just six hits, tying the mark for the second lowest total allowed in a game this season.
