HOW IT HAPPENED
- Montevallo junior Dane Hutcheon led off the bottom of the first inning with a RBI single and scored later in the frame on a RBI single by junior Daniel Pardo to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead.
- Young Harris tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the third inning on a RBI single by Luke Miller.
- The Falcons took a 3-1 lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, which included a RBI single by both Hutcheon and freshman Tyler Krabbe.
- Montevallo extended its lead to 6-1 with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, which featured a two-run homer by Krabbe and a RBI double by Hutcheon.
- Sophomore pinch runner Nick Smith scored on a RBI single by Krabbe and senior Thomas Bradey scored on an error by Young Harris in the bottom of the sixth inning to extend the Falcons' lead to 8-1.
- Senior Taylor Walker scored on a RBI fielder's choice by senior Thomas Bradey and Pardo scored on an error by the Mountain Lions to give Montevallo a 10-1 advantage in the bottom of the seventh inning.
- Senior Chase Bryant scored on a RBI triple by Hutcheon in the bottom of the eighth inning to push the Falcons' lead to 11-1.
- Troy Kizer scored the final run for the Mountain Lions when Zach Odom was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the top of the ninth inning.
- Sophomore Alex Pondick (2-1) earned the win in relief after striking out four batters 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief.
- Freshman Jamison Roney allowed one earned run on six hits with two strikeouts and two walks in 4 1/3 innings.
STAT OF THE DAY
The Falcons finished one stolen base shy of their season high with six steals in the victory, with senior Chase Bryant and junior Daniel Pardo leading the way with two stolen bases each.
BEYOND THE NUMBERS
Junior Dane Hutcheon tied his career high with four hits as he finished 4-for-5 at the plate. Hutcheon, who drove in three runs and scored one run, finished a home run shy of hitting for the cycle.
Freshman Tyler Krabbe drove in a career-high four runs as he finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a home run, which marked his third homer of the season.
Sophomore Alex Pondick registered a season high four strikeouts in his 2 2/3 innings in relief.
The Falcons helped their chances of clinching a spot in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament with the sweep of Young Harris. Due to having played three more games than the majority of the conference, Montevallo will await the results of next weekend's series before claiming a spot in the conference tournament for certain.
