HOW IT HAPPENED
- Montevallo raced out to a 4-0 lead after scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning, which included a RBI double by senior Taylor Walker, a two-run double by junior Daniel Pardo and a RBI groundout by senior Thomas Bradey.
- The Nighthawks plated one run in the top of the second inning on a RBI sacrifice fly by Connor Hoover to trim the Falcons' lead to 4-1.
- The Falcons scored four more runs to take a 8-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning, which featured a three-run homer by Walker and a solo blast by Pardo back-to-back in the frame.
- North Georgia plated two runs in the top of the fifth inning to trim the Falcons' lead to 8-3 on a RBI double down the right field line by Josh Profit and a RBI groundout by Sam Tidaback.
- Montevallo extended its lead to 9-3 on a RBI single up the middle by junior Dane Hutcheon in the bottom of the sixth inning.
- The Nighthawks scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning to trim the Falcons' lead to 9-8 on a two-run double down the left-field line by Hoover and an error by Montevallo that allowed three runs to cross home plate.
- Sophomore Alex Pondick entered the game with two runners on base and no outs in the top of the ninth inning before retiring three straight North Georgia batters to record his first save of the season.
