HOW IT HAPPENED
- UAH took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Matt Spruill reached on a leadoff walk before scoring on an error by the Falcons.
- The Chargers extended their lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Ben Rhodes, who reached on a leadoff walk, scored on a groundball the Falcons turned into a double play before Austin Sanders scored on a RBI double by A.J. Walden later in the frame.
- Montevallo managed just five base runners through the first eight innings before threatening in the top of the ninth inning when senior Taylor Walker was hit by a pitch and junior Daniel Pardo lined a double down the left-field line to put a pair of runners in scoring position before the next three Falcons were retired to end the game.
- Junior Chris Piteo (2-1) took the loss after allowing three runs, including one earned run, on two hits with three walks and a pair of strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings in his second start this season on the mound.
