HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons plated three runs in the top of the second inning to take a 3-0 lead following RBI singles by juniors Jacob Whiting and Dane Hutcheon and a RBI sacrifice bunt by freshman J.D. Minor.
- The Cougars scored eight unanswered runs over the next three innings and took a 8-3 lead on a two-run homer by Mike McClellan in the bottom of the fourth inning.
- Montevallo trimmed the Cougars' lead to 8-6 with three runs in the top of the fifth inning following a two-run homer by senior Taylor Walker and a solo blast by junior Dominic DeVille.
- The Falcons cut the Columbus State lead to 8-7 in the top of the sixth inning when Whiting scored on a bases-loaded walk issued to Walker.
- Columbus State pushed three runs across in the bottom of the sixth inning and took a 11-7 lead on a two-run single by Hunter Bowling.
- Senior Aron McRee (5-2) took the loss after allowing seven earned runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and three walks in four innings on the mound.

BEYOND THE NUMBERS
Senior Taylor Walker's two-run blast in the top of the fifth inning marked his 14th home run of the season and keeps him tied with Zach Daly of Lander at the top of the home run leaderboard in the Peach Belt Conference.
Junior Jacob Whiting, who drove in one run and scored two runs, tied his season high with three hits as he finished 3-for-5 at the plate.
Sophomore Drew Mullinax tied his season high with three strikeouts while allowing two hits and two walks in a scoreless three-inning relief stint.
